The Falla Plaza de Honduras commission (Algirós) has once again shown why it’s one of the most innovative and forward-thinking fallas in Valencia.
This small but mighty commission has been breaking new ground for years:
Measuring and offsetting their carbon footprint in the Albufera
Reforestation projects
Auctioning their falla on eBay
Promoting sustainability long before it was fashionable
Now, they’ve taken a bold new step ![]()
They’ve officially submitted a request to the Unicode Consortium to create Fallas-themed emojis, inspired by our traditional clothing and the unique character of the fiesta.
The aim?
To make Fallas visible to millions of people worldwide, strengthen our cultural identity, and celebrate a community that reached a record 120,235 registered falleros in Valencia in 2025.
Their president, Sergio Villanueva, puts it perfectly:
“Including Fallas emojis is a natural evolution to showcase our traditions globally. We want people to instantly recognise the richness of our culture.”
The two figures were created by Sanfeliu, who emphasizes that his work "highlights the traditional clothing and jewelry, but above all, it highlights the thousands of falleras and falleros who are the true driving force behind the Fallas festival. Furthermore, the studio will also participate in the design of this year's monuments."
And there’s a symbolic reason too…
2026 marks 10 years since Fallas was declared UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, a perfect moment to celebrate in a modern, digital way.
For the third consecutive year, the commission renews its artistic team:
José Luis Platero as fallero artist
Vicente Sanfeliu (Socarrat Studio) as designer
Innovation, tradition, sustainability… and now #emojis.
This is Fallas thinking beyond the casal ![]()

Valencia’s beloved #Fallas has just been crowned Best National Festival at the very first #Spain Travel Awards 2025, a huge recognition of what we already know: no one does culture, creativity, and pure explosive passion quite like Valencia! ![]()
![]()
But that’s not all… Valencia also picked up the Sustainability Award, proving once again why it shone as European Green Capital 2024. A city of fire and responsibility? That’s our Valencia. ![]()
![]()
Why Fallas Shines So Bright
The jury praised Fallas for its unbeatable ability to:
Share Valencian culture with the world
Blend tradition, art, innovation, and satire
Stand tall as a global cultural reference
And with 10 years as a #UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage just around the corner, Fallas continues to confirm what anyone who’s stood in a #mascletà already knows…
This #festival is in a league of its own.
Paula Llobet, Councillor for Tourism, put it perfectly: Fallas is “a cultural treasure admired inside and outside our region,” and a true ambassador of Valencian identity.
Outshining Spain’s Biggest Festivals
Fallas didn’t just win, it won while competing against giants like:
La Tomatina (Buñol)
The Málaga Fair
A victory that highlights not only the festival’s prestige… but its unstoppable momentum. ![]()
A Festival That Cares for Its City
The extra win - the Sustainability Award is an important nod to Valencia’s commitment to a tourism model that respects both people and the environment.
As Llobet noted, true progress “only makes sense if it benefits everyone and protects the natural heritage that defines us.” Valencia is showing that a city can celebrate big while caring even bigger.
In Short…
Fallas is officially:
The Best Festival in Spain
One of the top cultural celebrations on the planet
A model for sustainable, meaningful tourism

Valencia is turning up the volume for #Falles2026! The City Council has announced a brand-new funding program designed to help Fallas committees bring more #mascletàes, more castillos (fireworks displays), and more #gunpowder magic to every corner of the city. ![]()
![]()
The goal?
A true citywide Fallas, where fireworks aren’t just enjoyed in the centre, but explode with energy in every neighbourhood.
![]()
€100,000 to Spread Fire & Fiesta Across Valencia
The City Council has approved a budget of up to €100,000 to support commissions, with an initial €75,000 already secured and the possibility of adding another €25,000.
This financial boost aims to ensure that gunpowder remains at the heart of the celebration, and that no comisión misses out due to budget limits. ![]()

Up to €3,000 per Commission
Fallas committees can apply for subsidies if they are registered non-profits and part of the Junta Central Fallera.
Here’s what’s on offer:
Minimum pyrotechnic spending: €4,000
Aid covers up to 100% of eligible expenses
Maximum grant: €3,000 per falla
Eligible activities include all the classics:
#Mascletàs
#Cremà
#Castillos
#Correfocs
#Cordàs
#Despertàs
… and any traditional pyrotechnic material of Fallas 2026!

“A Fallas for Every Neighbourhood”.
Fallas councillor and JCF president Santiago Ballester highlighted the mission clearly:
“We want Fallas celebrations and pyrotechnic displays to reach every district of Valencia.”
No more centralisation, every barrio deserves its moment of #fire, #thunder, and #fiesta! ![]()
![]()
Valencia is preparing for a Fallas 2026 bursting with #colour, #sound, #tradition, and gunpowder… and this is just the beginning. ![]()

The official graphic images for Fallas of Valencia 2026 is the work of Vicent Ramón, a vibrant celebration of everything that makes our festival unique. ![]()
This year’s campaign features three symbolic scenes, each inspired by the pillars that earned Fallas its place as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity — tradition, living cultural heritage, and creativity.
The first scene reminds us that Fallas is a festival for the whole city, from L’Ofrena to La Nit del Foc, where elegance, flowers, music, and the sound of pólvora (gunpowder) fill the streets.
![]()
The second captures the rhythm of the tabal and dolçaina, blending music, fire, and the beauty of Valencian dress, flames that ignite the soul of the celebration.
![]()
![]()
The third is a tribute to the artista faller, where colour floods the streets and creativity takes form, honouring the eternal cycle of fire, destruction and rebirth, the essence of Fallas itself.
Together, these images reflect everything that defines our fiesta: #fire and #fireworks, #music and #tradition, #ninots and #flowers, #falleras and #artists, craftsmanship, #culture, and #emotion. ![]()

València is on the move… and we’re moving with it.
Because this city never stands still, it vibrates, evolves, reinvents itself. Every street, every neighbourhood, every smile… is movement. ![]()
![]()

This year’s falla is a tribute to that ever-moving València:
That moves on wheels — by EMT bus and metro.
That strolls through gardens, walks or cycles, and enjoys the fresh air.
That’s moved by its culture, festivals, and street art.
![]()
That looks to the future without forgetting those who brought us here.
That walks its pets with care and kindness.
And that celebrates Fallas with sustainability, togetherness, and joy.
In “València es mou” (València Moves), we invite you to see the city with new eyes — to move with it, to love it as it is: modern, lively, and full of heart.
Because València isn’t just a place.
It’s a heartbeat. A journey. An emotion.
And you are part of its movement.
