The wait is over! With the 20th International Symposium on Fireworks (ISF 2026) getting underway in Valencia tomorrow, we now have the conference programme for the week, including technical presentations, research, cultural heritage, safety, environmental considerations and the future of pyrotechnics.

Taking place from Monday 12 to Friday 16 October, the symposium brings together professionals, researchers and specialists from around the world to share knowledge, discuss developments and explore the many different aspects of the fireworks industry.

ISF 2026 UPDATE: Official Pyrotechnic Programme Revealed!

The opening fireworks display has been suspended.

The most noteable news is the fact that as the world arrives in Valencia they're faced with the news that the opening show has been cancelled due to a protest that hase parked itself in the middle of the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

As a result Pirotecnia Zaragozana has announced the cancellation of the opening spectacle for the 20th International Symposium on Fireworks, which was scheduled for this Sunday, 11 October, in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

After months of work, design and excitement, the team had prepared a unique spectacle that will now unfortunately not see the light of day.

In its official statement, Pirotecnia Zaragozana explains that the decision has been forced by a lack of safety guarantees from the competent authorities.

A huge disappointment for the pyrotechnicians who have dedicated months to this show, and for the many people who were looking forward to seeing it.

We will continue to keep you updated with the latest news surrounding ISF 2026 in Valencia.

It's a big shame and we know that many people were very much looking forward to it. Now we look forward to Monday with various events including #correfocs that are going to take place.

Another point to take note of is that the pyrotechnics programme has changed a little. Times and locations remain the same but some of the participating companies have been moved around a little and theres now a show by AEPIRO named, The ABC of Fireworks that has replaced the show by Pirotecnia Valenciana.

Published by AEPIRO, the programme reveals a packed series of fireworks, a correfoc, a traditional despertà and a spectacular drone show taking place at locations across Valencia between 11 and 16 October 2026.

And, fittingly for an international symposium on fireworks, the programme brings together pyrotechnic companies and performers from Valencia, Spain and overseas, showcasing a wide variety of pyrotechnic traditions and technologies.

ISF 2026 UPDATE: More Than 50 Companies Confirmed for Valencia Trade Fair

With ISF 2026 now less than four weeks away, preparations are gathering pace as Valencia gets ready to welcome the international fireworks community for the 20th International Symposium on Fireworks, taking place from 12–16 October 2026.

There is now some significant new information to share, particularly regarding the international Trade Fair and the growing number of companies preparing to attend.

The XX ISF Trade Fair is shaping up to be a major international gathering in its own right.

According to the latest information published by AEPIRO, more than 50 companies connected with the international pyrotechnics industry have confirmed their participation in the Trade Fair taking place alongside ISF 2026.

The companies represent 12 countries across four continents, demonstrating the truly international nature of this year's symposium.

The official regular registration fee is currently $900, with registration continuing to remain open for those wishing to attend ISF 2026.

With the 20th International Symposium on Fireworks (ISF 2026) now just over six weeks away, preparations are continuing in Valencia ahead of the international pyrotechnics community arriving for the symposium from 12–16 October 2026.

There have been a few useful developments since our last update.

The official ISF 2026 event app is now available for delegates.

The app will provide attendees with access to important symposium information and their event entry pass, helping delegates stay connected throughout the event.

Delegates should refer to the official ISF information for details on accessing and using the app.

One of the questions we are receiving most frequently is about the pyrotechnic shows and fireworks programme.

The ISF 2026 organising team has confirmed to us that the shows calendar is still being prepared, along with the wider programme of activities taking place during the symposium.

At this stage, therefore, specific dates, times and details of the pyrotechnic shows have not yet been officially confirmed.

Although the official host hotel and Trade Show are now fully booked, registration for ISF 2026 remains open.

Delegates wishing to attend the symposium should secure their place as soon as possible.

The official registration information currently includes:

Early Registration: $750 — until 11 September 2026
Regular Registration: $900 — after 11 September 2026

A special registration rate is also available for speakers, while specific registration options are available for Trade Show participants.

The ISF 2026 Gala Dinner will take place on Friday 16 October 2026 at the spectacular Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia.

Gala Dinner tickets are available separately for delegates.

Technical Submissions & Logistical Framework Finalized

The Asociación Española de la Pirotecnia (AEPIRO) held its second major assembly of 2026 to review the roadmap for the Valencia symposium.

• Behind Closed Doors: The committee has formally advanced the selection of technical papers, logistical budgets, and the presentation schedule for global delegates.

• The Scope: Expect a heavy focus on the latest global regulations, environmental compromises (such as eco-friendly smoke/debris reductions), and advanced engineering safety protocols.

Note: We are still waiting on official confirmation regarding public safety zoning, viewing areas, and accessibility for any evening demonstration displays in Valencia.
