INTRODUCTION - What is the International Symposium on Fireworks 2026?

The following overview provides context and explains what the symposium is, who it is for, and how it differs from Valencia’s traditional fireworks culture.

The International Symposium on Fireworks 2026 will bring the global pyrotechnics industry to Valencia, Spain, from 12 to 16 October 2026, marking a significant moment for both the city and the wider fireworks community.

Unlike many of Valencia’s well-known celebrations, this is not a public festival, but a professional international symposium. It is considered one of the most important gatherings in the world of pyrotechnics, bringing together manufacturers, designers, engineers, and industry experts to share knowledge, showcase innovation, and discuss the future of fireworks.

Its location in Valencia is no coincidence. The city and surrounding region are internationally recognised for their deep-rooted pyrotechnic culture, most famously through the Fallas of Valencia, where sound, rhythm, and tradition define the experience. However, the International Symposium on Fireworks operates in a very different space, focused on technical development, product demonstration, and professional exchange, rather than large-scale public celebration.

As interest in the 2026 symposium continues to grow, particularly from international audiences, it is important to clarify expectations early. While Valencia is widely associated with events such as the mascletà, no specific public displays or traditional formats have been confirmed at this stage. Displays associated with the symposium, if accessible, are more likely to reflect international styles and technical demonstrations, rather than the structured, ground-based intensity typical of local festivities.

The timing of the symposium also places it within a unique moment in Valencia’s calendar. It follows shortly after the regional celebrations of the 9th of October and begins on Spain’s national day, the Día del Español (12 October). This positioning further highlights Valencia’s cultural importance on both a regional and international level.

At present, several key details remain unconfirmed, including specific venues, the full programme, and the extent of any public-facing events. As such, it is essential to approach early information with clarity and accuracy.

Valencia Fallas, Festes & Fireworks will continue to follow developments closely, providing clear, factual updates as more information becomes available. With growing interest already coming from across Europe and beyond, this page will serve as a central point of reference in the lead-up to the symposium.
