There is some BIG fireworks news for Valencia this October! 💥
One of Valencia's long-standing pyrotechnic traditions is returning after many years away — the FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE PIROTECNIA.

And for its return, we're getting two international displays:
🇮🇹 Pirotecnica San Pio — San Severo, Italy
🇪🇸 Pirotecnia Caballer FX — Valencia, Spain
The return of the festival has been confirmed by Santiago Ballester, Valencia's Councillor for Cultural Festes, during an interview with our friend Boro Pieró of Onda Cero.
Ballester explained that the city wanted to recover this former tradition and, if the revived festival goes well, the intention is to expand it in future years.
In fact, he says they would like to eventually return to the three displays that formed part of the festival in the past.
As Ballester put it:
“We are known as the Cathedral of Gunpowder and soon we will also have the International Symposium of Pyrotechnics in our city, something else that's very important. And we have wanted to recover, taking advantage of all this, that fireworks festival and we are betting on it and perhaps next year instead of two there will be three.”
🕰️ A Tradition Returning
The Festival Internacional de Pirotecnia is not a new event created for 2026. It has a long history as part of Valencia's celebrations around 9 d'Octubre, with international and Valencian pyrotechnic companies appearing over the years.
Historical records show editions of the festival dating back decades, including the XXIV edition in 2003 and the XXVII edition in 2006. The format has changed over time, with previous editions featuring both international and Valencian companies.
Now, after many years away, Valencia is bringing the festival back — beginning with two displays.
And there is something particularly fitting about the first edition of its return featuring an Italian company alongside one of Valencia's own.
🎇 What We Know...
The date, start time, location and participating companies are confirmed.
What we don't yet have are the finer details of exactly how the two displays will be scheduled.
Based on the information provided to VLCFFF, we currently understand that the first display will begin at 23:30 on 8 October, followed by the second around midnight, taking us from 8 into 9 October.
That would also fit with the traditional timing of Valencia's fireworks display to welcome the 9 d'Octubre, which has historically taken place at midnight.
👉 However, this is our current understanding rather than an officially published running order, so we'll update you as soon as the exact timings and details are released.

Pirotecnica San Pio - Italy

For the return of the Festival Internacional de Pirotecnia de València, Valencia is welcoming a company from one of Italy's great fireworks cities.
Pirotecnica San Pio comes from San Severo, in the province of Foggia in Puglia — a city with a remarkable and deeply rooted pyrotechnic tradition.
The company was inaugurated on 8 May 1996, growing from the passion for fireworks of founder Giacomo Del Vicario. A detailed Italian pyrotechnic profile from the company's early years describes a family-run operation with production taking place in San Severo and a strong emphasis on traditional Italian fireworks craftsmanship.
San Pio's work encompasses a wide range of pyrotechnic displays, including traditional fireworks, large-scale shows, pyromusical performances and the spectacular batterie for which the San Severo area is particularly famous.
That local tradition is important.
San Severo is sometimes described as a “land of fireworks”, with the city's pyrotechnic heritage stretching back well before the modern companies that operate there today. Fireworks form a major part of the city's annual Festa del Soccorso, attracting huge crowds for its famous daytime and nighttime pyrotechnic traditions.
So while San Pio itself is a relatively modern company, it comes from an area where fireworks are much more than entertainment — they are part of the local culture.
And now that Italian tradition is coming to Valencia.

Pirotecnia Caballer FX - Spain (VLC)

For the Valencian side of the revived festival, it is difficult to imagine a more appropriate name than Caballer.
The Caballer family has been involved in pyrotechnics in Valencia since 1877, making it one of the great historic names in Valencian fireworks.
Today's Caballer FX was founded in 2004, continuing a family tradition that has passed through generations of pyrotechnicians.
The company is based in Moncada, while its manufacturing facilities are located in Vilamarxant, where its own pyrotechnic products are produced.
At the helm is María José Lora Zamorano, a fifth-generation member of the Caballer pyrotechnic family. Her son, Diego Pérez de Lucía Lora, is now becoming the sixth generation to take the family tradition forward.
And this really is a family with fireworks in its DNA.
María José's grandmother, Josefina Caballer, was a pioneering female pyrotechnician and became the first woman to fire Valencia's Nit del Foc in 1954.
Today, María José and Diego are continuing that legacy while bringing their own ideas and modern techniques to the art.
Caballer FX has become a regular presence at some of Valencia's biggest pyrotechnic events, including major Mascletàs, Castillos and Nit del Foc displays, while also working on multimedia and special-effects productions.
In 2026, María José and Diego were responsible for the spectacular pyrotechnic element of the Crida, with María José becoming the first woman to fire the Crida's fireworks. It was a fitting continuation of the pioneering role played by her grandmother more than seven decades earlier.
