Valencia is getting ready for the 9 de Octubre celebrations!! 💥🎆🎇🍓🍋🍊⚔️

Yes, the 9th of October is the day of the Valencian Community!! And as such it's a VERY important celebration and is a regional holiday! 👏👏🥳

The proclamation of the party will be presented next Thursday, 28th September, at 20.30hrs, in the Crystal Hall of the Valencia City Council. This is when all the party details will be given. 

Together with the Moors and Christians festival, a medieval market will be held, as usual, from Saturday, 7th October to Thursday, 12th October in the Turia Gardens, specifically between the Flower Bridge and the Exhibition Bridge. This market, which was formerly located on the Serranos Bridge and the Plaza de los Fueros (next to the Torres de Serranos), has been relocated to the old bed of the Turia since 2021, the year it decided to move.

The organizer of the market, Valero Merkados Temáticos, has said that the Valencia Medieval Market on October 9, 2023 will include craft stalls, artisan trades, food, gastronomy, fantasy characters such as fairies, stilt-walking fauns, the Medieval Upsala Group, the Brauli dolçaina i tabalet and much more. This will happen between  10.30am in the morning to midnight without interruption.

Timetable:

Saturday, 7th October 2023;

20.00hrs - “Embaixades de la Conquesta”, in the Plaza de los Fueros, next to the Torres de Serranos you can see the theatrical representation of the Conquest of Jaume I.

Sunday, 8th October 2023;

10.00am - Offering to the Virgen de los Desamparados and Festive Mass in the Basilica, Plaza de la Virgen de Valencia. At the end, tour from the Plaza de la Reina with the ALARDO (entrance via San Vicente Street to Plaza del Ayuntamiento de Valencia).

11.00am - Alardo de Arcabucería in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. This is the reinactment of the moors shooting their rifles that are stuffed with gunpowder!!!💥💥

Monday, 9th October 2023;

14.00hrs (approximately) - mascletà in Plaza del Ayuntamiento after the civic procession by Piroshop Pirotecnia Martí  💥💥💥

16.00hrs - Descent of Glory with entrance of capes and music bands.

17.00hrs - Entrance of Moros i Cristians Ciutat de Valencia, whose route begins at the Parterre and will go through General Tovar, La Paz, Plaza de la Reina, San Vicente, Plaza del Ayuntamiento and ends in Marqués de Sotelo. As in previous years, more than 2,000 people divided into Moorish and Christian ranks, accompanied by music bands, ballets and floats, will offer a unique show in the capital that lasts for many hours. Seats are available in the front row for 5€, if you're early enough! ⚔️⚔️
